The Swiss Gravitational Wave coordination Group (SGWG) has been formed in 2025 with the aim to coordinate both scientific and technological activities in the interdisciplinary field of gravitational waves with members from the Swiss astronomy (SCFA/CHAPS) and particle physics (CHIPP) communities.

The SGWG is not a separate legal entity, but an adhoc project group of the Platform MAP according to Article 4.9 of the SCNAT Rules of procedure (Geschäftsordnung / Réglement intérieur). Its creation was endorsed by:

  • The Swiss Commission for Astronomy (SCFA) on 27 October 2025,
  • The Presidium of the Platform MAP on 4 December 2025,
  • The CHIPP Board on 11 February 2026.
