1. SSAA New website
We would like to announce that the SSAA website has now been transferred to the SCNAT portal. The address (ssaa.ch) remains the same. Many thanks go to SCNAT and Michael Moser who have done an excellent support for this transition.
2. Call for SSAA Travel Support Applications: Deadline March 31, 2025

3. Call for SSAA “Astronomy Outreach” Projects: Deadline March 31, 2025
In 2025, the SSAA offers financial support of up to 5000 CHF for projects on Astronomy Outreach.
Funding is possible for diverse outreach projects, including support for exhibitions, the preparation of material for schools, the organisation of events, and alike. Projects will be funded on a competitive basis.

4. Call for MERAC Funding Applications: Deadline March 31 and September 30, 2025
The SSAA is pleased to announce the 11th call for MERAC awards. Since 2013 the SSAA committee distributes Funding and Travel Awards (20’000 Euro in total) sponsored by Foundation MERAC (Mobilising European Research in Astrophysics and Cosmology), a nonprofit foundation in Switzerland to recognise, encourage and promote the research and mobility of young European Astrophysicists and Cosmologists.

5. Call for Edith Alice Müller Award Nominations: Deadline: June 15, 2025

6. Next General Assembly of the SSAA: 9/10 Oct 2025 at IRSOL
The next General Assembly will be held on Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, 9/10 Oct 2025, at the Istituto ricerche solari Aldo e Cele Daccò (IRSOL)
Details on the exact location and agenda will follow.
7. 55th Saas Fee Advanced Course in 2026
The 55th Saas Fee Advanced Course Proposal will be on “Astronomical Interferometry: the angular-resolution frontier”. It will be kindly organised by Svetlana Berdyugina (IRSOL) and Prasenjit Saha (Uni ZH).
Further details will be communicated in due course.
8. Reminder to pay the 2025 membership fee
The 30 CHF annual SSAA membership payment can be made via the QR code that can be found under the following page https://ssaa.ch/en/about_the_ssaa/membership
Please note that the previous method of credit card payment (recurrent or not) does not work anymore. Therefore, if you had a recurrent payment, please use the QR code and set up a recurrent payment via your bank account, if you wish.

If you are not yet an EAS member but wish to do so, please contact us, e.g., to inform us that you wish to become member of EAS for free.
EAS encourages all SSAA members, in particular solar physicists to become members since EAS is now actively reaching out this community, with a Council being a solar physicist (Sven Wedemeyer) and organising scientific sessions at its annual meetings.
